No Struggle No Success Community Engagement

Associated Black Charites (ABC)

As we reflect on the past three years of work at Associated Black Charities, we are deeply aware that our progress has not happened in isolation. Our 2023–2025 Impact Report highlights a season defined by bold leadership, honest reckoning, and renewed commitment to advancing racial equity across Maryland - and it underscores how critical aligned partners and courageous organizations have been to that journey.

Each year, ABC hosts its Annual Gala to celebrate not only our mission and community, but also the leaders and institutions who have helped move the work forward in meaningful ways. The Gala is both a moment of reflection and a call to remain steadfast together.

Congratulations! We are writing to share that the 2026 ABC Gala (an evening of Love and Liberation) will center on legacy, continuity, and collective responsibility - and it is our honor to invite No Struggle, No Success to be recognized as a 2026 Gala Honoree

Heather Warnken and her team platform is use to join in with community members, business leaders, policymakers, and advocates for a powerful town hall gathering focused on second chances and economic opportunity. Together, we’ll celebrate progress in removing barriers to record clearance in Maryland, explore what’s next for expanding employment access for people with criminal records, and spotlight the economic and community benefits of doing so.

The Power of Philanthropy: Fueling Second Chances

Senator Cory V. McCray is a proud son of Baltimore, a journeyman electrician, author of The Apprenticeship That Saved My Life, and a Maryland State Senator. His journey from electrical apprentice to public servant reflects the transformative power of skilled trades, mentorship, and second chances. As an author and legislator, McCray understands the responsibility of preserving legacy while building pathways for future generations, ensuring that stories of struggle and triumph continue to shape Baltimore’s future.

The Apprenticeship That Saved My Life is both a practical guide and a personal story, showing what’s possible when access and opportunity meet. Intertwined with Cory McCray’s journey from Baltimore’s streets to the Maryland General Assembly, the book highlights the life-changing power of apprenticeships, mentorship, and “earn-while-you-learn” pathways. It offers insights for young people, families, and educators seeking real, sustainable opportunities to build careers and futures

At No Struggle No Success, Inc., philanthropy is more than a donation—it’s a lifeline. Many of our participants face overwhelming barriers and lack family or community support as they reenter society.

Thanks to generous donors, we provide urgent essentials like:

  • Clothing and hygiene care packages

  • Meals and emergency housing

  • Workforce development tools and training

  • Access to phones, transportation, and medical care

Every gift—big or small—directly removes roadblocks and empowers individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
